I can't bank on three years at Man Utd - Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim - pictured getting support after May's European final loss - says he is pleased by the investor's continued commitment but emphasized that what lies ahead is unknown in soccer.

United's manager Amorim feels it's significant Sir Jim Ratcliffe publicly shared his future vision - but says nothing is certain about the future in the sport, never mind three seasons.

Through a conversation with The Times recently, Sir Jim mentioned it may need the manager three seasons to create substantial change at Old Trafford.

Coming in a period when Amorim's future has been under scrutiny after a prolonged run of disappointing results, the words contributed to reducing a portion of the current stress.

Yet, discussing prior to the centenary clash with historic adversaries the Reds at Anfield, Amorim underscored that tomorrow is difficult to forecast in soccer.

"It's certainly beneficial to hear it but he informs me continuously, sometimes with a message following matches - but understand, I realize and Ratcliffe understands, that soccer doesn't work that way," he stated.

"The most important thing is the next game. Despite having backers, you cannot dictate tomorrow in soccer."

CEO Omar Berrada has conceded it has required much more time for Amorim to adapt to the Premier League following his move from Sporting Lisbon last November than anyone imagined.

Manchester United have achieved 10 times in 34 Premier League matches during Amorim's tenure. They are yet to win consecutive league victories and have not ended a round of league games in the current term better than ninth place.

The dire statistics are challenging confidence in Amorim among the Old Trafford faithful entering a sequence of matches their team has struggled during for the past two seasons.

Amorim said he isn't experiencing the doubt internally at their training facility and is insistent nothing can match the expectation he places on the team - and in certain ways, he would choose the co-owner not to be trying to establish serenity because he is concerned about the effect it might produce on the team.

"It's not just something people discuss, I sense it daily," he remarked. "It's truly positive to hear it because it assists our supporters to grasp the administration realize it needs some time.

"Yet concurrently, I'm not fond of it because it gives a feeling that we possess time to work things out. I don't wish for that impression in our organization.

"The expectation I put on the players or upon myself is considerably larger [than that from outside]. In the sport, especially in big clubs, you must demonstrate your value every matchday."
