Keely Hodgkinson Concludes Season with Winning Performance at Athlos in New York

The athlete achieved her fastest time of one minute 54.61 seconds the previous season in London.

Keely Hodgkinson concluded her two-lap season with a triumph at the all-female Athlos meet in New York on Friday night.

{The current Olympic gold medallist, who earned third place at the World Championships recently, excelled in an outstanding win in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was just her sixth appearance in a year affected by a muscle issue.

Fellow Briton and world silver medallist Georgia Hunter Bell took the runner-up spot once more in one minute 58.33 seconds, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua M. (1:58.57) claimed third.

"I've barely raced this season so it was likely less of a struggle for me to go out there and want to give it something," stated the 23-year-old.

"The atmosphere out there is crazy so it was extremely enjoyable."

The women-only meet filled Icahn Stadium in its second year, introducing a festive vibe to traditional track, with musical performances and Tiffany & Co. crowns substituting standard medals.

The 23-times tennis major winner Serena W., who is wed to Athlos founder Alexis O., was present to present the victors with their tiaras.

Last year's winners received sixty thousand dollars (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - among the biggest cash prizes in athletics.

The event also drew several top athletes, as Kenya's three-time Olympic gold medallist and world record holder Faith K. triumphed in the mile race, finishing in four hours 17.78 minutes.

American Brittany B., the 200m bronze winner from the recent Paris Games, won the 100m and 200m double.
