Australian law enforcement have ended the operation for a young boy who has been disappeared in the outback for almost three weeks, after renewed operations were unable to locate any signs of the boy.

The young boy was spotted engaging near his family property on a secluded sheep station close to Yunta, about a significant distance from Adelaide, on 27 September.

His family member briefly departed for about thirty minutes before returning, only to realize the boy nowhere to be found, triggering one of the largest comprehensive missions in South Australian past.

Current Situation

Police - who do not think there was foul play - say they will persist looking into, but that the situation has become a "recovery mission".

Recently, officials temporarily reduced the search, only to restart it on this week alongside eighty military members.

"Spokesperson authorities said police were looking a more extensive area based on new evaluations from survival and rescue experts, rather than any new information."

Search Obstacles

On recently, officials confirmed that the recent hunt had not uncovered any evidence of the child.

"The situation that the young boy is a small child, the landscape is very difficult, harsh and affected by variable weather conditions has made the operation difficult and more difficult for those participating," officials said in a statement.

About a vast area - an area approximately double the size of a major city - has now been searched, and a 12-person team set up recently is projected to continue looking into. Authorities have not ruled out more operations of the location in the coming days.

"Gus's absence is felt in all of us, and we miss him exceeding words can describe."
